Captain Scott Woolfrey

Captain Scott Woolfrey has been in love with all things boats since his early childhood growing up on a pristine Wisconsin lake where he spent his summers water skiing, fishing and in the words of Kenneth Grahame, “simply messing about in boats.”

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin at River Falls, Captain Woolfrey joined the US Navy where he received his “wings of gold” and flew P-3C anti-submarine/patrol aircraft. It was while stationed at NAS Jacksonville, FL located on the banks of the St. John’s River and a stone’s throw away from the Atlantic Ocean, Captain Woolfrey pursued his love of all things boats and became acquainted with the salty environment of the east coast and the challenges of coastal boating.

After his Naval commitment was up, Scott joined a major airline based in the Midwest where in addition to flying the line, he teaches, is a check pilot and has managed various fleet training programs. Illustrative of his penchants for attention to detail and operational orientation, Captain Woolfrey is a FAA Airline Program Designated Examiner for B-757/B-767 airplanes. Captain Woolfrey brings his aviation based, exacting attention to detail and safety orientation to all activities whether on or off the water.

Though his “day job” is spent plying the skies, the call of the  sea never subsides in this Midwest raised sailor. While not in the air, he has crewed numerous blue water boat deliveries and is a regular customer of various charter companies located around the world. Noteworthy sailing adventures include the Great Lakes, Eastern Seaboard, the Caribbean and French Polynesia/Society Islands.

Along with the plethora of experience one accumulates as a fanatic of the water, Scott has also pursued formal training and has earned his Coast Guard Masters certification along with the accreditation of an American Sailing Association Basic Keelboat instructor.

Captain Woolfrey is married to his First Mate of over 35 years, Debra and has three children and two grandchildren. Debra and Scott currently split their time between the Twin Cities, Northern Wisconsin and Atlanta, GA.

Captain Woolfrey looks forward to sailing with you and sharing his wealth of nautical knowledge and skills gained from over 50 years on the water. Come and join him for captained charters or on-the-water instruction.
